The Southern end of the Gold Coast is the best kept secret, with rainforests, abundant bird life, quiet tranquil waterways just at our door step.

There are many easy walks that will transform you into another world, a world away from the glitz and glamour the Gold Coast is known for.

The pictures below give you a glimpse of the tranquil world of Tallebudgera Creek Conservation Park, this walk is something to be treasured but unfortunately the walk is still closed.

Unfortunately at this time the boardwalk has been damaged and to date no repairs have been scheduled. (23/1/2010)

Email any additional info

Lets hope this beautiful walkway is opened in the not too distant future.

This walk is best taken early in the day during the summer months.

Head from Burleigh Head Information Centre on the Gold Coast Hwy, cross the road to Ikkina Street (Koala Park)

Option 1: You can take a left and follow the road around to Awoonga Ave  (runs into Elanora Drive) and enjoy the scenic route along Tallebudgera Creek.

Option 2: Keep going straight till you arrive at Elanora Drive. Following Elanora Drive to your right till you come to Pindari, take a left on Pindari and following the street around it's a bit of a climb but worth it. This street now becomes Ocean Parade. The road curves around to reveal on your left a sign, 'Tallebudgera Creek conservation Park' if you come to Vantage Point Drive you have gone too far!  ( I had trouble seeing the entrance while driving)

Option 3:  or take the easy way out and drive to the start of the walk, there is limited parking. (Ocean Parade)

Option 4: Start at Fleays Wildlife Park plenty of parking and on the way back you can enjoy a few hours at the Wildlife Park and have a meal in their Cafe.

Tallebudgera Creek Conservation Park Walk

This is a scenic walk which changes from stunning views of Tallebudgera Creek revealing deserted sand islands to dense mangroves.

Birdlife is prolific with screaming sulphur-crested cockatoos overhead, some stretches of the walk you could believe you were in some deserted location and nobody was around.

If you stand quietly... and just listen you can imagine what it would have been like for the early settlers and the local Kombumerri / Bunjalung people who then inhabited this area.

Check out the map below for a precise location

Continuing along this track you eventually come to the Mangroves, the boardwalk through this area is amazing, what a wonderful location to educate people about the beauty and importance of this Habitat. The Mangroves are dense here compared to Beree Badalla boardwalk  (Currumbin Creek) This is the upper stretches of Tallebudgera Creek, where Beree  Badalla boardwalk is near the mouth of Currumbin Creek.

It will take you approximately 40minutes depending on your pace. (remember you have to walk back). Give yourself an easy 1½hour round trip. Tallebudgera Conservation Park can get very warm in the summer months. Please carry some water and remember to take a hat and wear sunscreen. Anytime you are following a creek the temperature is lightly to rise.

The walk finishes at Fleays Wildlife Park a day out on it's own.

While Tallebudgera Conservation Park walk is closed you can still enjoy a day out at Fleays Wildlife Park.
